Dry Needling

Dry needling is a technique used in the treatment of a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.  It can be used to target specific myofascial trigger points which present as tight and painful spots in muscle that produce pain, alter movement patterns and lead to dysfunction.

Needles are place into specific spots of tightness and may be left in place for a few minutes to 30 minutes as determined by your physiotherapist.

Dry needling can be used to help improve muscle length and recruitment and thus reduce pain and restore proper movement patterns.  It can also influence and reduce pain via the pain regulatory system .

Physiotherapist Fiona Mansfield has undertaken further training in dry needling and has a special interest in this form of treatment.
